Ken, you have some very nice images in this Gallery.
With the 7D you might try raising the ISO. I use auto-ISO (on my T2i) with it capped at 800. But even at 1600 at times I have gotten very good results.
I shoot in RAW only now, and it gives a lot (more) processing latitude.

Thanks canon eos. When I started using the 7D I allowed higher ISO to be used, but got tired of dealing with the noise. I will only use 800 in rare situations, and normally cap it at 400. When I am doing "serious" shooting, I use a tripod which allows me to get away with the lower shutter speeds required by my ISO cap. I only shoot in RAW format also.
