Does anyone beside me shoot video?

I'm having a great time with my little video camera. There are pluses and minuses. When I pull a still from video it's not nearly as sharp as the pics that get posted here but on the other hand I have recorded lots of birds singing including that great Song Sparrow song, Mockingbirds playing, Hawk attacks ect.

If anyone would like to talk video please post here.

Hi Richie,

I have a small panasonic dv recorder that I like to use but yes you are correct you will never get as sharper image from a video frame as you will from a digital camera. The biggest thing that I found with any digital camera be still or movie when they are zoomed out they shake alot result camera shake comes into play.the other thing about them is the zoom part usually consists of 2 parts the actual zoom and then there is the digital zoom this will bring things in closer but it doesn't necessarily do a good job. As this part you can really fine tune and in post edit software I usually will suggest turning off the digital zoom part. I am glad you are having a ball and I for one would love to see some of your results Wink

Hi thekiwi

thekiwi>>The biggest thing that I found with any digital camera be still or movie when they are zoomed out they shake alot result camera shake comes into play.<<<

Zoomed "out" or "in"? I learned early on that, because of the shaking, there was just no way I would be able to shoot wildlife video without a tripod. Even with the tripod if I'm on max zoom (40X, all optical - no digital) a slight breeze will shake the camera a bit. I try to deal with this by using my body as a wind braker. And even if I do get some shaking or swaying it gives the video a "documentary" feel to it. A British movie, My Summer of Love, was filmed entirely in this style.

Stay tuned. As soon as the migration season over (and were almost there now) I will be putting stuff up on Veoh.com which is the only place I know of where you can upload hi digital quality videos.
