i saw this bird today and i have no idea what it is, notthat i know a lot about birds aor anything but its bigger than a crowbut smaller than a vulture...when i think about it...it was like a mixof the two in apperance, its definetley a bird of prey, its dark brownbut not a solid color...scaly i guess you could say and its featherswere....uhhh...ruffled, the head was very similar to a crowas was the beak, and it made a long deep throaty call...kinda like arooling r but in bird, instead of spanish...but only when it wasperched, and when it did call it was over and over again.  oh, andi was near the mountains in northern virginia in the forest. and if ithelps i saw it land only once and it jumped around the spot whilelooking down at it. If anyone has any idea what my dumbass is talkingabout please tell me cause its bugging the hell out of me not knowing.thanks.

Without a photo it's hard to say for sure, but if your bird looked like a crow then it might have been a crow. Crows frequently come in odd colorations due to genetic abnormalities, or may look patterned in cerain light. Probably not a bird of prey if it jumped around in one spot, that's more a crow behavior. However, if your bird was larger, had a ruffled head, and deep throaty call then it was probably a raven which looks like a big tough crow.

yes it is probably either a crow or raven.

i dont know how that would effect your sheep though or even how the sheep tie into ur description.

the only bird that would probably attack ur sheep is a golden eagle i think they do take out young deer but im not shure bout sheep. the sheep losin is probably from dome predatory mammle or a disease.

oh it said sleep   D'OH
