What does UV filter do? I got one with my new camera, but have no idea what it actually does...google hasn't been any help at all so...

Ok birdseye use the filter it is far better should you accidently bang your lens to break the filter than it is to crack the lens. And here is a thread from a few weeks ago explaining what they do http://www.whatbird....read/79315.aspx
