I just received the IPod Touch as a gift from my husband and I downloaded the IBird Explorer Plus. I know it is fairly easy to use but it would be nice if Help would include how to access additional photos when there are additional Photos on the Photo button. I have tried pressing the Photo button several times and do not get additional photos. For example: Bald Eagle shows 2 Birds with 5 Photos. I only can get Bald Eagle 1 picture to show. I press the 5 Photos button and nothing happens. If I press the arrows up or down I get the next birds.

What does it mean when it states 2 Birds? It would be nice it there was something that explained all the various features and how they work. This could be included in the Help portion as I thought that was where I would find it.

I  do not have internet access on mine and do not want it. I would like to be able to access Help when I am away from my internet connection, like out in the field or where there is not an internet connection, when I need assistance with IBird. Many times when I go birding the places I go there are not any cell phone signals or very weak ones so what good would the internet do there. I have looked around on WhatBird and don't find anything to answer my questions either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sheri thanks for your ideas. The additional photos can be found by "swiping" your finger vertically upward right on the screen. The numbers refer to how many addtional photos or illustrations are provided below the main photo or illustration. Swiping is a basic feature of the iPhone technology called "gesturing". there is also zooming and pinching. Apple provides online instructions on how to use all the gestures at the Apple iphone web site and we dont think it makes sense for us to teach people how to use it. Regarding our Help we purposely put it on the internet at www.ibirdexplorer.com because we can easily update it any time as we develope more information. If it was on the device we would have to update the app to change it. Also 99% of iPhone users have internet access via the cellular network or wifi. I hope this answers your questions.

Mitch

Thanks for the information. Being new to IPod, I still have a lot to learn on how things work. I am use to having information available at my finger tips. As I said before, where I bird, internet access is usually not available. Also, I don't want to pay the additional fees for it at this time since I would very rarely use it when not at home. My husband has internet he uses on his cell phone and we don't see the need for two connections.. I will check on the Apple website for more instructions.

Again thanks for the info.

If you have internet at home, then all you need is a wifi "router" and your iPod touch can get on the net from anywhere in the house and yard. You could then use all the powerful informational features of iBird such as birdipedia and flickr to learn a LOT more about birds. Its not needed to identify a bird in the field but it would enhance your birding experience. Happy to assist.
