You mean no fowl?
Sorry about that....
Anyway, I was wondering if doing a "restore" might have also fixed the "sorting" problem.

I have the original iPhone (running version 2.2.1 of the iPhone software/firmware) and iTunes 8.2 on Mac. I have 1.9 GB available on the original 8 GB iPhone. I plan to upgrade to the iPhone 3Gs when my 2-year contract expires in September.
When I go online, I see some original iPhone users who are very happy with the upgrade, and others who have had problems. My biggest concern is with iBird PRO (also have iBird Plus), which is the one "must have" app I live for -- what are the pros and cons of going ahead with the download to iTunes version 3.0???
I would be interested in others' experiences, both in general and specifically with iBird PRO -- and would especially appreciate any thoughts on this from Mitch in this regard.
Upgrade now? Wait and get the iPhone 3Gs?
iPhone, iBird and everything is working super right now, but some nice new features too -- don't want to risk a good thing being too greedy.....

The short answer is there is nothing to worry about--the app has been fully tested on OS3 and if there was a problem Apple would pull it out of the app store. So far we have seen hundreds of upgrades and I have heard of NO OS3 conflicts. I think you will be thrilled with iBird on the iPhone 3GS because it is so FAST that everything seems to open and start in an instant. The iBird install that normally takes 30 minutes on my 3G took 5 minutes on the new 3GS! I dont know how much of that is because there is more RAM or because iBird was one of the first apps I installed but I have heard only good things about 3GS. And OS3 features so many improments (cut and paste, landscape everywhere, etc) that I can't see any reason not to upgrade. I would only be concerned upgrading if you have your memory close to filled with tons of apps. Hope this helps.
Ok there is one issue I have heard about just today, and it may be what the poster above you experienced, which is OS3 may change your icon or make it disappear. I saw that just once when I was testing with the OS3 beta but it went away with the gold OS3 install.

Thank you, Mitch, and I am planning to upgrade to 3Gs in September.
For now, though, I have the ORIGINAL iPhone. My question really is about any problems on upgrading the ORIGINAL iPhone, in general and, in particular, my favorite app, iBird PRO.
What are the pros and cons of upgrading the ORIGINAL iPhone now, as opposed to just waiting until I get the 3Gs?

The most recent iBird version 1.6.1 requires at minumum OS 2.2.1. If you have that running on your phone there should not be a problem upgrading your Edge phone to OS3.

I have upgraded my iPhone 3G to OS 3.0 as of yesterday. iBird Explorer Pro no longer shows up. Tried iPhone Restore, Reset and tried deleting and downloading another copy of the latest iBird Pro app. Still no go. Curiously my iPhone settings options for the app still shows the options available for this app. But no app. itself. Anyone else having this problem?
I've got the exact same problem with an iPod Touch 2nd Generation with 3.0 and the app is not appearing. I looked to see if I had extra blank pages but that's not the case with my iPod.

Slide the home page to the right to reveal Spotlight. Enter iBird in the seach box and see if you can find it that way.

In iTunes, under Devices select your (connected) iPhone/iPod, in the large panel there are tabs at the top, select Applications, select "Sync applications" and "All applications" and then in the lower right "Apply"
Report back here whether that helped.

Tried syncing multiple times...iTunes is showing it's being installed but nothing ever appears on the iPod.
When in iTunes and on the device Application tab, try checking and then unchecking the box for iBird Pro. Let me know when you sync does the progress bar appear and slowly move as its being installed?

Okay, but "tried syncing" doesn't tell me that you followed the instructions step-by-step. Can you confirm whether or not you did that? I'm just another user like you, so I'm only trying to help. Sometimes you have to help someone to help you by being explicit with what you are doing.

I've done this numerous times and yes, the progress bar moves slowly like it is being installed but nothing appears on the iPod Touch and the memory does not drop.

I know how to install apps...I've got a dozen other apps that I can easily remove or add at any time.

Why dont you download the free iBird 15 from the app store and see if that installs. Its very small and if it works it will help us narrow the problem down.
That worked fine.
