I just bought a 1974 Edition of Peterson's Birds of Europe.
I noticed that there are many familiar birds that are also found in America. But, there are others that look too close to the American bird for me to tell if it is the same bird or not. I have to compare the Latin name to determine if it is the same bird. Sometime it is and sometime it is not even though both have the same common name.
With the Official name changes that we have experienced here, does anyone know if the same is occurring in Europe? Is there a "World Body" that considers what the common recognized name of a bird is? It sure would help eliminate any confusion.
