I stopped off at Merritt Island on my way back to Michigan last April.  Virtually no water and no birds on the Black Point Wildlife drive.

The Fish and Wildlife Service says rains came in October (http://www.fws.gov/m...ditions2011.pdf).

Any thoughts on whether the Black Point Drive, and/or the refuge more generally, are worth a stop on my way down to West Palm Beach right after New Years?

Thanks.

I'm probably too late with this comment (sorry) but birding is excellent out there right now.  The water is just now beginning to dry up due to high winds and no rain, but for now it remains quite good.
