It sounds like it's ultimately going to be fine, but it's almost amusing how the government tends to trip over its own regulations sometimes (Operation Migration is a partnership composed, in part, of government agencies).

What a shame!  As a Wisconsinite, I hope all is resolved quickly and the cranes go where they need to go.  Bureaucrats!

The FAA indicated that while this is a one-time exemption for this year, they'll be working with Operation Migration to figure out a long-term solution as well.

New wrinkle in this story.  Apparently, after being grounded for a month, the Cranes are refusing to fly any farther south...
