Need some help, can't figure this one out.  East of Houston, marsh area along Trinity river.

This one is kinda tricky. If I had to guess, I would say White-throated Sparrow. But the streaking is strange. Maybe Swamp Sparrow.

White on the malar and crown looks too pale for Swamp. My first thought was juvenile White-throated Sparrow, but the throat isn't very white...

I'm sure Matty can ID it for ya.

Thanks yaw, I believe it is a white-throated. I went past the two photos I was looking at and found a couple more and from those I figured it to be white-throated, But I tell you that dark area under the throat and the two dark spots on the flanks really had me confused.

Photo two looks a lot more like a Swamp Sparrow with those grayish tones. Huh?

Wouldn't the swamp have more rust on the cap?

I still lean toward an immature white throat, but compare to lincolns

Lincoln's have buffy malars and fine streaking on the breast, unlike the dark smudges seen on this bird.

Here's a Lincoln's with the field-marks Liam mentions for differential diagnostics:

What about size, this bird seems to me to be a bit large for a swamp sparrow.

The first pic looks just a tad bit stocky for Swamp, but I'm pretty sure the second pic nails it as Swamp.

I probably would've given a hesitant guess of White-throated from the first, but the second photo indeed clinches it pretty neatly for Swamp Sparrow.
