Saw these 2 at Peaceful Waters Wetland in Wellington, FL on a Saturday morning.
The photos are horrible... but the best of the bunch.
I have looked and looked and cannot even guess what these birds are...
Any ideas? and what characteristics lead you to that ID (so I can continue my learning :)
Thanks for you help!

Note... I added some fill light to the photos to bring the colors up from the darkness of the photo, but no saturation mods.

Female Boat-tailed Grackles. The coloration is a bit off, but I'm sure that's just an element of white balance or something.

Thank you Liam and Birdbrain!!! I would have never thought of that!!! I'm pretty sure I've seen female boat-tailed grackles before, but somehow just didn't make the connection on that day!
Thanks again!

What makes these boattail grackles? I can't see it. Can you post the original photo?

Heh, I thought it was just me. They looked like robins to me. I don't even see very long tails in this picture but what do I know?

Process of elimination. With the long bill, long tail, large size and brown breast there's really nothing else they could be. After the OP posted her second photo it's pretty obvious that the odd coloration is just an element of editing.

thanks for posting that...but at 72dpi, it still doesnt help... if you reduce the original in something like microsofts resizer (free) it will get the right sizeto post, but retain the dpi so I can enlarge it...

I'd agree that the original photo is a much better source for IDing the grackles.
