Have you looked at pileated woodpecker in the field guide?

yes, i have pileated in my yard all the time. I do know them. I live in florida, not far from where 6 were shot over 100 years ago.

If you have seen "it" several times then get that camera out! When you see "it" then take a photo. I don't think that it is one but like creeker said. . .

I almost got a pic of a Passenger Pigeon today, but this stinkin Carolina Parakeet kept getting in the way!
