Taken today in Western Idaho. A lot of rain recently has inceased the small pond in many fields.

Looks like an American Avocet.

maybe a yellowleg? But it is probably a Avocet.

I know the picture is not the best but I remember the bill being straight and not as long as an avoct. I hope to stop by and get a better photo.

The bill doesn't look thin enough of upturned enough for an Avocet. We are just getting these back here in the last couple of weeks and their coloring is their distinctive rust & white breeding plumage, which I really don't see here.

I don't see an avocet at all. I think the grass in the foreground is making it look like there are wingbars that aren't there. I think this is a yellowlegs.

I think American Avocet: if it's not a trick of the light, the neck looks a different shade than the rest of the body & the wings look dark with white patches/stripes. Also, the bill could look straight because its head is turned.

The bill is what we should look at. It is not long and up-turned like an avocet. It is short (ish), and strait. That fits with yellowlegs. I don't think we can make out what type of yellowlegs, but I don't see avocet at all.

My first thought was a Yellowlegs as well. If you look at the wing there is no white bar like an Avocet would have. and the bill is not up-turned enough for an American Avocet.

Yeah no offense meant but I don't see how this could be confused with Avocet. Looks fine for Yellowlegs sp. to me, leaning greater fwiw.
