Ah, that does look a lot closer. I'd never heard of that one. Hopefully my guess wasn't too shockingly bad. Lol!

I'm pretty sure that Verdin es verdad on this one.
Ah, I see the red now that you point it out. Gratias, magistro.

Maybe this is Spanish Spammish
Nothing Spammish about it; it's just a description of the field marks that support the ID (red on the shoulder and yellow on the face).

Bigfoot
BFF,
AKA Bigfoot,
Let's cut to the chase. Let's not mince words, nor beat around the bush.
Birds have odd names. Real odd names. Almost seems like a conspiracy at times. And Verdin is an odd name, even by a bird's standards.
The only connection in my mind, wherein I can tie 'Verdin' to a normal word is 'Verdad' which as you can see, is only different by 2 letters. The first 4 letters that are the same is in fact the four letter code for Verdin (VERD).
My apologies for replying in "Spammish". Please don't break out the hammer!!
I agree that the coloration looks right for Verdin. What gave me pause was the apparent length of the tail and the overall size of the bird. Both these observations don't seem to hold water based on the lack of an alternative species. Thanks all, except bigfoot, I think grote voet ruikt.
LOL, I'm sure BigFoot's feet smell like flowers. As for the length of the tail, looks fine for relative size of bird to me
Haha! Helen, hoping you would see this thread
I gree-ay at-thay it's-ay a-ay erdin-vay.
So, you had to one-up the 'regular' Latin with Pig Latin?
Mon dieu.
French? Now THAT'S offensive !! Just kidding. If it makes you feel any better, I have French & English on my passport.....

Well, if you can cheat, so can I:
Kin chomaj che are' jun Verdin; man xin wil taj jun Verdin nab'e, arechi' kontaq' man k'o taj le ri pa Xelju'.
Helen
Edited for spelling. Don't want to get caught ;-)
