Thinking RTH, but not certain. Shot last week in central Wyoming.

Looks to me like a Rough-legged Hawk. It has the namesake "stockings" for sure.

Yep, Rough-legged Hawk. Look at the lighter colored head, the 'petite' bill, tail banding pattern, clean white on underside of primaries.. feathered legs
. Looks to be light morph adult female.
By the way, you should get some kind of extra points for an awesome photo !!!

Thanks for the help here. I compared to Sibley, and the ID makes sense to me, esp the Light Morph. I'm so used to seeing Red-tailed Hawks, I've almost given up on checking the guide!
