My understanding is that in the April time frame is the absolute best time to go because of the nesting aspect and the migratory birds coming through. I responded to a post by Liam earlier about this. I went now due to that. Just research before you head out. There are a few birds that are year long residents, but I think the prime time is in the spring. You can camp on the island, but it is very primitive. You will only have about 3 1/2 to 4 hours if you go on a day trip. If you go this time of year, it is absolutely not enough time. Don't know what kind of camera you have, but a very strong lens will be needed for the nesting birds. Anyhow, the experience was incredible.
