My friend saw this on a trip a few weeks ago to Oahu, Hawaii. Among a group of wildlife biologists and birders, this one couldn't be nailed down. I think it is an American Black duck hybrid, but I can't figure it out either.

This is some form of Domestic Mallard, I believe, but I won't go any farther than that.

Probably a Wildtype x Buff x Wildtype.

Not sure if I'm counting right there -would that make TWO daddy ducks? Did a group of ducks eat some fermented grains, then get a little crazy afterwards?

I'm thinking this may be a domestic Mallard perhaps crossed with Pacific Black Duck?

No, I mean the offspring of a Buff x Mallard and a Mallard.

eBird doesn't have any sightings for Pacific Black Duck or hybrid in Hawaii.
