I am not great with hawks, but the wide stripes on the tail and darker coloration make it a Broad-winged Hawk I believe.

Life list: 158
Yard list: 82 - latest yard bird : Wood Duck
Latest Lifers:  Ring-billed Gull, EVENING GROSBEAK, WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Snow Goose, Canada Warbler

Short tail with wide white band. Looks good for Broad-winged Hawk.

That is a lifer for me. I was just standing in the middle of a gravel road and he lit in a pine tree about 30 yds from me. Just luck!

Someone once said, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." Good shot, and congrats on the lifer!
