I honestly have no idea what kind of bird this is. It was hopping around for quite some time in the treetops next to a small stream. Small bird, almost constantly moving to the next spot. Alone. Couldn't see any barring or distinct markings or differences in feathers, just paler buffy underparts and grayish on top. Very smooth color transition from throat to breast. In Austin TX, Friday, April 6th.

The red spot in the one below is from the tree, not the bird:

Looks like a vireo. I'm thinking Philadelphia based on the yellowish tones.

I didn't say anything before because I wasn't sure, but that was my best guess for this bird as well.

Am I the only one who sees this as an open-and-shut Orange-crowned Warbler? The overall drab yellowish/green plumage, eye ring (see first/last picture) long tail/undertail pattern and sharp, pointed bill all say OCW to me. I don't see any markings, (other than maybe the yellowish coloration on the chest) that suggest Philly Vireo.

However, I could be looking at this the wrong way, so correct me if I am mistaken.

I also see an Orange-crowned Warbler, although I admit my first thought was vireo.

Thank you all for your thoughts! My camera is not so great, and I think the photos show the bird a bit greener than it was--more grey and buff. I didn't see an orange crown or streaked chest, so lean toward Philadelphia or warbling vireo. My pics probably not good enough to ID!
