I got pictures of this bird on 2 separate occasions. If it is what I think it is, it shouldn't be in New England! The photos are so bad because the bird was in and out so quickly both times.

Actually, that looks like a tufted titmouse to me.

Adding that other than the obvious range issue, some differences include the crest you see in the first photo, the crown typically being darker than the area around the eyes, and the dark cere area. Those all point to titmouse.

It's just the light, I think. I have had a titmouse trick me into thinking it was a bluebird. :)
