Yeah, the transitional plumage makes my guidebook useless for long vs short. But apparently long-billed is the default usual kind one is supposed to see here?
I'd like to get it definitely pinned down because it's a photo lifer.

Of course, it depends which of the six birds you look at. The left hand one in the first picture is the flattest, I guess, and the two in the last picture don't look very flat at all.
