Is it just me or all of the most beautiful, colorful birds on the eastern side of the states?!

Haha, you westerners have certainly got us beat in some areas! This one, for example: http://www.kewlwallp...s/Green Jay.jpg

Limpkin, I'm pretty sure the Lower Rio Grande Valley is in the Eastern portion of America.

Y'all in the west have Varied Thrushes.

I'll have to refill my feeders for the grosbeaks!

Lower Rio Grande valley is most certainly considered "out west".....at least for us here on the east coast! You guys in the west have western tanagers, lazuli buntings, Steller's jays, magpies, mountain and western bluebirds, and many others. Not to mention the western warblers.

Texas is a very confusing state, but if observed carefully, all fieldmarks point to a southwest ID.

Really LRGV should be considered its own thing not really eastern or western, it just has to be in one of the two guides.
