I am in Central Florida and have a backyard pond. I was very surprised to see this bird just a few minutes ago...actually looks like some kind of sandpiper!

Looks like a Solitary Sandpiper.

Why would a Solitary Sandpiper be at a backyard pond in Orlando?

Agree with Solitary. It's migration for these guys right now, he must have just stopped in to rest!

We get a spotted sandpiper that stops at our manure pile every year for a few days. It's more of a manure pit, and there's always water, and.......other liquids at the bottom.
