I have a birdhouse hanging from a Cherry Blossom tree in the front of my house that has Chickadee babies and I just saw one squeeze out of the vent hole from the top. At first I thought it was stuck, but then it just popped right out. The parents weren't around. They were across the street fending off a pesky Scrubjay that has been hanging around. It flew right into the neighbors yard. I sure hope the parents find it and it doesn't get eaten by that Scrubjay. I'm so worried!
This is my first time dealing with birds in a birdhouse. Does anybody else get nervous when the babies fledge or am I just nuts?
The Chickadee nestlings are leaving the nest!
