Cape Cod. Apr 27

I brought up my camera but was too late. Saw a small, greyish bird, maybe a white wingbar or two, yellow patch on rump. Could this have been anything other than a Yellow rumped Warbler? Or can I count this lifer?

Sounds like a Yellow-Rumped Warbler. As for counting it, just my own personal criteria but if I don't see a bird well enough to positively ID it myself I don't count it.

New Year's Resolutions:
Get my lifelist to 300 (currently 293)
Finally get Mountain Quail and Vesper Sparrow
Top my previous single year best (2011-253) I'm at 193 as of 5/12.

Counting it as a lifer is up to you, as every birder has to make their own personal rules.

Not sure there is enough info there to differentiate your bird from a Magnolia warbler, althought Yellow-Rumped is probably more likely.

I think that butterbutt is much more likely.
