Definitely a junco. Could be a mixed subspecies? We seem to get some here that look sort of like Oregon, some like pink-sided, and some like slate-colored, others looked mixed between 2 of the 3, in Iowa.

You're way out of range for pink-sided, I'm thinking female slate-colored (brown adult) but pic is a little small to be sure.

Agree with Slate-colored. A Pink-sided is actually very similar to this, but it flanks really do have a pink cast, which I don't see here.

Hard to tell from this pic, but given the location, I'd go with slate-colored.

Okay if this helps here is another pic http://i1269.photobu...inger26/333.jpg its a little blurry but you can see were I got the Pink Sided Vibe. I also heard from a Ornithologist in Indiana who said that we also get Pink sided Juncos but they are not as common as Slate Colored.

The distinct black mask visible on the first shot suggests one of the western subspp, but given the location I'd be more inclined to think female Oregon. We get Oregon's annually in Illinois, but I'm not aware of any records for Pink-sided. (It could just be that we see an odd one and call it Oregon ;)!) Also, the pink-sideds I've seen out west have a pinker, less brown tint.
