I've been searching for hours to try and identify a bird I've never seen before, so please can someone help? I don't have a photo because I saw it out of a window, perching on the tip of an upright open pipe only a few feet away for about a minute with no camera to hand. It was small to medium size, elegant in shape, slim, long tail and legs. It's upper body was a soft, pretty light brown, it's breast and underbelly was a gorgeous yellow and it's tail was quite distinctive. The outer/side feathers were actually a clear, bright peachy orange, while the rest was the same brown as the upper body as far as I could see. All the colours were solid, not mottled in any way, and very smooth. The beak was definitely not a finch beak.

This was seen in Chesterfield Va on 5/2/12. I would love to know what this lovely bird is but, failing that, I'll cherish the memory. :)

Welcome to Whatbird! Your description matches pretty perfectly with a Great-crested Flycatcher. Would that be what you saw? Here's a photo (not mine):

Oh wow! You guys are something else! Absolutely, that's the bird I saw, although I wonder if the crest can be flattened or raised because the head looked smoother. Thank you so much, I'm delighted and really happy to have that photo link. As a British ex-pat with so many new birds to see, I'll probably be back. Thank you for your welcome and swift answer (no pun intended).
