I shot this guy this afternoon and had no idea what it is. The best I can do from Sibley's is a Horned Grebe which would be a stretch for here (Denver). Sibley says they do migrate through here, but our local Audubon doesn't list them as a bird seen here. Any ideas?

It's an Eared Grebe, much darker than a Horned Grebe, which have reddish necks.

Agree: Eared, in breeding plumage. Odd that your Audubon doesn't list: Sibley's Western has it as a Summer bird for it looks like all of Colorado (boy, is that map tiny!), as does Peterson's. We have millions on the Great Salt Lake now.

Our Audubon (last time I looked) listed only Bied-Billed and Western. I know I haven't seen any Grebes before. So I guess I'll just take the lifer and be happy about it.

In Denver, look out for Horned and Clark's as well. You can usually find both Western and Clark's in the summer at Chatfield Reservoir, and I believe at Barr Lake and Union Reservoir in Boulder County in the winter.
