I'm having a hard time telling what happened to this Red Headed Woodpecker. Either it is a tumor or the remnants of a branch impaled into its neck. I was able to get close with it watching me, so I think it was reluctant to fly. When I did get too close, it was fully able to fly.

Is there a doctor in the house?

Well, it looks like it has pretty regular range of movement on the neck at least, and it's still eating. Weird looking though.

I saw a mourning dove the other..morning  with something similar. It looked like a piece of a stick was protruding from its chest. I couldn't get close enough to see better. The dove didn't seem to be affected by it at all. Weird!
