I am going to be taking a trip to Southwest Virginia. I willbe staying in Christiansburg, Roanoke and Lynchburg. Does anyone know of some good birding spots anywhere close? Thanks!

Hi, I live near christiansburg. here's that areas bird club: http://www.nrvbirdclub.org/
the event calendar may have some spots listed.

Around Christiansburg/blacksburg, There are a ton of places, so its hard to narrow down.
If you're looking for warblers, Mountain Lake and Glen Alton are good spots.
Also spots along the blue ridge parkway like Rocky Knob, and Smart View.
closer to town options include Heritage Park, and Pandapas pond
(all those should come up on google maps)
If you have specific species in mind, I can probably help you out.

I'm less familiar with roanoke/lynchburg, but their bird club website lists sites

Thanks, nsteika! I really appreciate it! I am definitely looking for warblers and birds of prey and any others! I'll let you know if I get to all those places.

Kimberly :)
