ID help please

I'm visiting my brother in North-eastern California (Nevada City) and have spotted 2 birds that I cannot identify. Help would be appreciated.

The second one is a female rose-breasted grosbeak. I don't know about the first, though. Maybe a tanager.

First is a California Towhee, second is a female Black-headed Grosbeak.
Total birds seen: 370

Doh! I always forget about the black-headed grosbeaks. We don't have those in Mo.
