It's out of my area, and I've only ever seen one, but I'd guess Gray Flycatcher (range shows only southwestern Texas in Sibley's).

Agree with Empidonax; not sure which one by photo alone. Sound is really the only reliable way to ID; unless a bird list of your area lists only one.

That was my initial thought, too. I've also only seen one of these guys on a trip out west, so I'd wait for more confirmation.

I would need to see a photo showing the primary projection before I make the guess. If you heard it calling, try listening to some Empidonax flycatchers and see if you can find a match.
