Is a Common Gallinule the same as a Common Moorhen? My book only has Common Moorhen and Purple Gallinule.

The Common Gallinule and the Common Moorhen used to be conspecific (same species) but were split into two species based on a few differences last July. The Common Gallinule is the American counterpart and the Common Moorhen the Eurasian. All the "Common Moorhens" you've seen in the US are Common Gallinules.
