Northern Michigan

This fellow arrived at the feeder this morning. I'm thinking it is most likely a Pine Siskin.

Thanks for your help.

Agree with Pine Siskin. I have one of these visiting my feeder all the time in Charlevoix. Let's me walk right up to him and doesn't move at all.

Thanks everyone! This was a single appearance by Mr. Siskin but the raucous Blue Jays and Rose Breasted Grossbeaks are here in multiple.

I agree. Think you could send him to the next peninsula south?

I just posted flying papers on the feeder, with directions, so you can expect to see him and a band of heavy-eating Blue Jays flying escort, in a few days.

I'm new to this forum (and to birding in general, since I moved up to Northern Michigan). I have pine siskins by the dozen that love to hang out and eat thistle seed from the hanging (net) feeder with the gold finches. They are so fun to watch! And no, they're not skittish in the least. My indoor cat watches them from the window only a foot away and even with the screen open they don't care. :)
