I thought black vulture matched the silhouette and the white marks on the wings?

Thanks!
What I have learned so far.... just because you think that bird is just another _____ (house sparrow, chickadee, crow or whatever you are used to seeing) look a little closer... you just might be surprised!

Thanks! This is the first overhead bird I have been able to take a picture of, he was flying slow enough for me to snap a pic! I saw a hawk or something brown and white earlier today, that was flying much faster and I was not able to get a pic of it. I know the call it made, it was identical to the Red Tailed Hawk, but the markings did not look like the ones on this site for a red tailed.

That's awesome! I have a horrible time taking birds in flight! What kind of camera did you use and what settings? Thanks!

It is a Cannon powershot sx40hs and I just got it 2 days ago, so I am still learning the settings and how the zoom works. Today I put it on the settings to shoot sporting events, so that you can take fast successive shots. My main problem is holding it still while being zoomed in so far, and if a bird is flying, I am just not quick enough to get him! I am working on it though. I know even less about photography so this is a double learning experience!!
