Taken today at Hempstead Lake, NY. Couldn't get a better shot, unfortunately. Saw Hermit, Swainson's and Veery. This thrush appears not to have the eye-ring of the Hermit, nor the spectacles of the Swainson's nor the relatively clear breast of the Veery, I saw. So . . .

Thanks. Parula. I have never encountered a Gray-cheeked Thrush. When I arrived at the park a friend told me one had been spotted, so I am a little concerned about 'wishful' thinking. Not to mention what is the likelihood that I would see four thrushes and they would be representatives of four different species. I am just curious whether anyone else has any opinions on this.gray cheeked thrush

here are some ID tips for thrushes
swainsons has a line from their beak to there eye
hermit has a rusty tail
wood has big black olives for their chest and has a orangish brown back
veery has olives that are tiny and are only under the throat
grat cheeked has a regular brown tail and no line from beak to eye. distinguishing it from hermit and swainsons
bicknell's i dont even want to try.

From Gray-cheeked -- of course, if you're not on the East Coast, you would have a devil of a time getting anyone to belive you, possibly even with a recording.
