Hello everyone!

We live in North Texas and yesterday my daughter discovered a small birds nest ontop of our patio fan. Since then we have been keeping an eye on it to see what kind of bird it is. This morning we saw the bird fly out of the nest and back. It didn't seem shy or scared of us. It is a small one, with dark back, greyish-white belly and pointy wings. It has a greyish/white ring around the neck. I have searched for this bird online but cannot seem to find it. Help would be most appreciated as me and my daughter are excited to find out what kind of tenant we have living on our patio :)

Thanks for looking!

Welcome to Whatbird! You have an Eastern Phoebe, a common flycatcher found in the East.

If they don't do the job, you can get a Muscovy Duck or two. They're specialized in eating flies and mosquitoes. :D
