This first bird was photographed in Charlevoix, MI on May 9.

Your second bird is most likely a gray catbird. One of my favorites.

The second looks like a grey catbird.

Whoops, I agree with eastern phoebe, but can't see the first well enough to have much of an opinion. I was getting a magnolia vibe, but hard to say.

White throat on the first bird makes this a Yellow-rumped Warbler over Magnolia for me.

A Magnolia Warbler would show yellow flanks as well -- I agree with Yellow-rumped (Myrtle).
