Spotted this on a kayak trip over the weekend. It sure looks like a Killdeer to me, but I never saw one in the water. This photo was taken in a tributary off the Ohio River in PA.

Agreed! The Double Necklace is the give away on Killdeer.

Thanks everyone, this is one of the few pictures that turned out from my kayak trip. Missed getting shots of the two Belted Kingfishers we saw. Didn't realize how hard it is to snap pictures while going upstream in a kayak.

It is kind of strange to see one in water, like a normal plover...

I have thought about taking a kayak trip for birding but have wondered about how the movement would hamper my limited photograph skills. Appears I will have to place that plan on hold. Had a hard time on a my feet in boat a couple of months ago. I found it very frustrating.

Life list total~183

One heard only (Eastern Screech-Owl)
Yard list ~ 68

Work list ~ 115 (Office with a view)

Many Many Many Thanks to all here at Whatbird for your help extraordinaire...
