I'm not going to try on the first... but I can confirm the Great Blue Heron!!

Your first bird is a Great Crested Flycatcher. Nice shot!

Great Crested Flycatcher for the first and I agree with GB Heron on the second.

ok, i am in CA, so i dont get to see the Dusky cap, fly or great C.fly. so why couldnt this be a Dusky cap?

A Dusky-capped at Cape Cod would be very lost indeed. I don't think you typically find them many places outside of Southeast Arizona.

Also, a Dusky-Capped wouldn't show such a deep red tail. The combination of bright color on the tail and breast usually points to GCF (besides the range discrepancy in this case).

Yes, I saw a handful of Dusky-caps in Arizona, and they looked like very washed-out versions of the Great Cresteds I get here.
