[MWM]

I'm guessing it's a female or juvenile, but can't find anything that matches it. Taken Monday (5/28) in western NY. (About the size of a catbird).

Looks like a fledgling Starling to me.

I was thinking juvie Northern Mockingbird based on the head shape, but I haven't seen one myself.

Not my photos, but you can see that young Northern Mockingbirds are speckled on the breast, and grey all over, and that young European Starlings are brown all over (pardon the overexposed shot) and are streaked with lighter brown on the belly, like this bird. Though they do look pretty similar, I'm sticking with European Starling for this bird.

I agree with juvie Starling. I have tons of Mockingbird juveniles this time of year. Mockingbirds have wingbars; starlings don't.
