any guesses on some blurry sparrow type bird

i thought maybe lark sparrow, but the chest is too streaky

taken in the southern california mountains last month

Are these both the same bird? The first one looks like a female Purple Finch but the second is a Lark Sparrow.

Possibly Cassin's Finch, with those long primaries?

They look like the same bird to me - look at the back and wing pattern. The head looks different because it's turned and twisted a little in the second, and the light is directly hitting the breast, washing it out. I say purple finch, female.

it jumped in & out of a pile of rocks, i guess i can't be positive it was the same bird. i think i will just leave it as unidentified, it's too blurry

Pretty sure it's the same bird and that it's either a Cassin's or Purple Finch. I guess Purple is more likely by range.

I am with Matty thoughts,
Although the primaries are long, but I would of like a clear pic.
The bill is chubby, which is more of Purple field mark. and the streaking on the flank is more purple like, So i would go with Purple here
