Taken in Ohio

Looks like a King Rail, which would be out of range in Ohio, though not unheard of. Virginia Rail would be much more likely, but the light throat has me leaning King.
I would definitely get a second opinion, though.

I was leaning King Rail as well but not positive. Was this at Glacier Ridge by any chance? There was a King Rail there last year.

This was taken at Big Island Wildlife Refuge just west of Marion. I only got one shot before it slipped into the cattails. Am I ok to go with King Rail?

It looks good to me, too. Given their status here in the Chicago area, I wouldn't exactly call Ohio out of range, but its good enough that I would probably try to let the refuge staff know about it, if there's an easy way to do it.
