I found this bird in my backyard with other dead birds around it. It has a red chest with blackish spots on it. What kind of bird is it?? I have been feeding it mushed up dog food soaked in water. I am also looking for information about where to take it.

Thanks,
Matt

Looks like a young Robin, although if you're in the Pacific Northwest Varied Thrush might be possible. Check online for wildlife rehab centers in your area.

I'd say American Robin also.

Yeah agree with Amer. Robin.

I'd look for bird rehabbers in your area. . . and take it to the closest. They can take care of it much better then anyone else, as they are trained professionals. (I think) Either that or they're just winging it. . . pun not intended.

Here's a link from the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association, there are links for all the states.

SeeBird thanks for that link. I had comment this morning on the injured Bald Eagle thread on knowing where to take injured birds in your area is important. I had an injured robin and I did not know where to take it and wasted a lot of time trying to find out.

You're welcome, Clip. I guess I am lucky, I have 2 rehab places within 15 miles of my house. I always try and give a donation when I have to drop an animal or bird off.
