I have a Beaver pond less than 10 minutes from our house, and combining that fact with my retirement I have had wonderful photo opportunities around the pond and the area trails.
The WhatBird forums have been very helpful to me as I (slowly) learn some of the birds
I like to share my images, and where possible, share some details about my experiences in this forum. And please do not hesitate to correct me as I am definitely not a birder or naturalist.

The pond is under the direction of this guy..........

Thank you.

I only take my 400mm (non-zoom) lens when going to shoot birds. Its minimum focus distance is about 12ft so even if something is very close (like Yellow Warblers!) I may have to back off!

This is a Dragonfly* I shot at the edge of the pond. It was perhaps 20ft away. Hand-held (and no IS); the shutter speed of 1/500 seemed to work.
*Again, don't hesitate to correct me or add any comments or feedback.

A male Common Whitetail to be exact. Great series of photos! Keep them coming! :)

There's a (man-made) Osprey platform and nest in the middle of the Beaver pond. The Ospreys came back north much earlier this year because of the unusually warm weather and they are nesting and might have a hatched chick by now. But one of the pair is always keeping an eye on me.
Adjacent to the nest is a large old Pine with branches coming out to the side, making an ideal resting stage for the Osprey.
This was shot from about 300ft as I was viewing a closer bird in the brush.

This is what I saw in the brush, a Mockingbird I believe.............
