I apologize for the non-bird post, but couldn't find any good on-line sites for dragonflies. Taken 6/5/12 in central New York state, any ideas?

You might look at Bugguide.net -- their ID feature is pretty good for butterflies and dragonflies. With other groups you may be waiting quite a while.

Taken today in southern Vermont. First is a dragonfly and second maybe a damselfly? I've searched through images on bugguide.net but there are just too many when you don't know where to start.

The first one is a Clubtail dragonfly of some sort -- I'm not very good with those. You might try Bugguide.net.
The second one is an Aurora Damselfly.

Wow I'm glad I checked this thread.

I saw this interesting dragon fly at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge on Long Island in New York on Friday.

Any one know what this one is?

I think in the Off Topic forum, there won't be many of the experts chiming in. I've never seen some members quite familiar with dragonflies post anywhere other than the Identify forum.

One thing you could do, if possible, is create a new forum for not-bird IDs. Birdforum.net has a forum dedicated to dragonfly/butterfly identification.

These were both taken yesterday in upstate NY. They seemed to be nibbling on a newly planted Serviceberry sapling.
