What should I do if anything? There is a catbird nest at my house next to the river. The river has begun flooding and now the nest is only about 18 inches above the water. Will she abandon the nest which had 5 eggs in it yesterday? Should I try to raise it up for her?

I would leave it alone. If you did manage to move the nest, you probably wouldn't be able to anchor it well. Sometimes you just have to let nature take its course.

I watched a Birding Adventures episode one time. . . (if you don't watch those yet, WATCH THEM!!! look it up on YouTube) and there was a Sunbittern nest, and the river flooded to the point where it was just inches from the nest! Yet the mother didn't abandon the nest, and the next day it was fine! :D Mother birds are (most of the time. . . cowbirds!) great mothers. . .

The water is still raising so the nest is closer to the water. I have not gone down there to see what is going on. I will leave it in Mother Nature's hands. Thanks for the advice. I was looking forward to watching the hatch and fledging but wait and see what happens I guess.

Thanks again

Ok the water receded enough to see the nest location. Sad news, the nest is intact and shows no damage whatsoever. However all the eggs are gone and no bird in the area either. Kind of weird.....
