Hi! Newish birder here. Finished a hiking trip to the Big Island of Hawaii a little while ago, and was lucky enough to see a variety of native and non-native birds. These guys have been giving me a bit of trouble and I was wondering if any more experianced birders might recognize which species these are. I'm afraid the photo quality in a few is rather lacking. Thank you so much for your time!

Mystery Sea Bird - I'm leaning on either brown or black noddy:

Nutmeg Mannikins?

Might be a female black francolin? I saw her run across the road followed by a few juveniles:

A grounded fledgling - I'm leaning on Myna:

Mystery Cup Nest:

I also have a few Nene photos (better quality) if anyone would like to see.

Can't help on 1,3&5 but 2 are Nutmeg Mannikins (AKA Spice Finch) and 4 is a Common Myna.

New Year's Resolutions:
Get my lifelist to 300 (at the time of the original writing-293, currently-294)
Finally get Mountain Quail and Vesper Sparrow
Top my previous single year best (2011-253) I'm at 210 as of 6/11.

Thanks! The alternate name might explain why I'm not finding as much information on those guys :)

I think 3 is a grey francolin - the wing pattern is closer. #1 is definitely a noddy - I'm leaning towards black. Brown has darker primaries. Not definite, though.

Man, I really wish I had brought a decent camera!
Thanks everybody for their help. The possible Myna was about the size of a tennis ball. I remember thinking how large it was for a young bird.
