2 X's I have seen this rare, to me, gorgeous orange bird in my backyard feeded. Thought it was someones parrot at first. Have only had two brief sightings and flew off when i went to get camera. Size and speckle contrast of a cow bird/crackle but orange with a large orange fan shaped tail. Definately a first for me and i have enjoyed casual bird watching for 20 years. What a treat. Anyone know what it could be?

Where are you at? The Orange Bishop is introduced into Southern CA and Phoenix AZ.

Based on your description of an orange tail, I'd say either Baltimore Oriole or Bullock's Oriole. The Orchard Oriole has a black tail.

I was under the impression that the Baltimore Oriole was yellow? Posted Image

Hehe. They're all Orchard Orioles. :D
At least during this time of year. I've only ever seen one Baltimore, a female in December 2009. They're locally scarce in Winter, somewhat uncommon during migration and rare in Summer.
