We spend a loy of time looking in the sky to capture images of birds, dragonflies, butterflies and other winged beings. I thought it might be interesting to share images of the clouds we see in the sky too...

I just so happen to grab a few shots of some clouds during my dinner breaks at work the past week or two. First, a cloud with a face, if you have the imagination to see it.

Posted Image

The night before was a totally different kind of cloud, and I don't just mean there was no face in these clouds. These clouds were carrying rain, but none of it was falling at work. Apparently it stormed all around us that evening but skipped right past work.

After two and a half years of inactivity, I have finally started adding some new photos to my Picasa Web Album.

I love looking for things in the clouds - in the picture above I can see several dragon type creatures all running to the left with their mouths open!

Thank you very much!! Yes it was taken on the ground in a nature reserve (a former landfill which is now a restored wetland) not far from NYC. Got lucky with the combination of the cloud formations & it was also close to sunset so the lighting was perfect.

Here we go, I knew I had some good cloud pictures somewhere, I found them when I was sorting my pictures. As I recall, this storm knocked some wires to the ground, where they burned. We got pouring rain and the power was out for about five minutes. Some people ten minutes away were out of power for an hour or two.

The storm front.

When I took the photo, I thought it was a massive dust devil. However, I was later told by someone who is a weather spotter for NOAA that it is indeed a tornado, though about as small as you get.
